Understanding Deteriorating Heart Failure:

1 – Recognising symptoms: Heart failure symptoms can worsen over time. look out for increased shortness of breath, fatigue, swelling in the legs or abdomen, and a persistent cough. Monitoring daily weight can also be crucial, as sudden weight gain may indicate fluid retention.

2 – Importance of medications: Adherence to prescribed medications is crucial in managing the condition. Consult us if you experience side effects or have concerns about your medication(s).

Managing Deteriorating Heart Failure:

1 – Dietary changes: Adopting a heart-healthy diet is crucial. Limit sodium intake to reduce fluid retention, and focus on fresh fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains

2 – Regular exercise: Engaging in low-impact exercise as recommended and tolerated. Regular physical activity can improve cardiovascular health, boost energy levels, and enhance overall well-being. Seed advice before starting any new exercise regimen.

3 – Stress management: Chronic stress can negatively impact heart failure. Practice stress-reducing techniques such as meditation, deep breathing, or yoga to promote emotional well-being.

4 – Monitoring weight: Weigh yourself daily at the same time, preferably in the morning after using the bathroom. Sudden weight gain may indicate fluid retention.

5 – Recognising warning signs: Stay vigilant for signs of worsening symptoms, such as increased swelling, rapid weight gain, or persistent shortness of breath. If you notice any of these, contact your healthcare provider immediately.

6 – Emergency plan: To seek urgent medical attention if there is any deterioration in symptoms (as above)
